Connect to Rebuild is a movement to see churches' unity and Christians sharing the Gospel. In John 17:23, we read about God's plan to see unity for His churches so that the world will know He sent His son, Jesus, to the world to die for our sins. God wants the world to know that He loves each person the same way He loves Jesus. The Bible says this unique kind of love will bring people to complete unity. Each Christian is not only a recipient of this love, we are also the initiator and giver of this love to one another.
In Nehemiah 3, the people of Israel knew God's plan, it was time to rebuild the wall of Jerusalem. They prayed and set aside themselves to respond to God's rebuilding project. The word “next' was used 26 times, in the context of connecting to build with the next person. “Connect to Rebuild” takes a similar posture of rebuilding, connecting to the next person with love, kindness, an act of service and the Gospel message. Love is not only a good feeling, love is when we want the other person to benefit and to succeed. This is a movement to create conversations, to understand the needs around us and serve one another in ways that people will receive Jesus's love through us. Let's be honest, it is not easy to do. This movement challenges us to face what is difficult and how to overcome the challenges. God wants us to trust and rely on Him as we become the initiator of serving one another.
It is an interactive platform, giving us a visual aid to see the progress of Christians rebuilding the unity of the churches by serving one another. The initiator will pledge to complete 5 acts of service to other people. The sponsor will be the witness of this pledge. Once this pledge is fulfilled, the sponsor will, in return, complete an act of service to another person. When this pledge and sponsorship are completed, a light will light up on the Connect to Rebuild map. Our hope is to see act of services happening all around the world, it is a way to rebuild the unity of the churches, aligning ourselves to John 17:23.
While showing kindness and connecting, we will come across people who are curious about your faith and action. Our mission is to equip you to share your faith story with others. 1 Peter 3:15 reminded us that we should always be “prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect..” The reason for hope is a personal story about how Jesus forgave your sins and your relationship with Him is restored. Join the “Reason for the Hope” online training; it is a step-by-step guide for you to write and prepare yourself to give an answer to everyone who asks you about your faith.
